2-Bromo-1-oxo-3-phenyl-1H-inden-6-yl acetate (24 g, 70.0 mmol) obtained in Step 4 was placed into a flask and dissolved in MeOH (350 mL). The solution was charged with K2CO3(11.64 g, 1.2 eq) and stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with EtOAc and washed with a brine solution. The organic layer was dried over MgSO4 and concentrated in vacuo to give the desired product (19.5 g, 93%).
