A mixture of (3E)-6-bromo-3-(4-bromo-5,5-dimethylfuran-2(5H)-ylidene)-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one (2.3 g, 6.0 mmol) and morpholine (1.0 mL, 11.4 mmol) in 10 mL of DMF was heated in 96 C bath for 3 hours. The mixture was cooled to room temperature and poured into 200 mL of water. The precipitates were filtered, washed with water, and dried in vacuo to give (3E)-6-bromo-3-(5,5-dimethyl-4-morpholin-4-ylfuran-2(5H)-ylidene)-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one as a brown solid. Yield: 2.1 g, 89%.
