Procedure
(R)-3-t-butoxycarbonylamino-4-(4-methoxy-benzylsulfanyl)-butyric acid methyl ester (30 g, 81.3 mmol) prepared in Step D was dissolved in dichloromethane (70 mL). 4N hydrochloric acid/1,4-dioxane solution (71 mL) was added thereto, and the mixture was stirred for 2 h at room temperature. After completion of the reaction, the reaction solution was concentrated under reduced pressure. To the residue were added dichloromethane (30 mL) and diethylether (150 mL). The resulting solid was filtered and dried to give the title compound (19.2 g, Yield 87%).
