A suspension of 3-[2-(methylthio)-7,8-dihydropyrido[4,3-d]pyrimidin-6(5H)-yl]-N-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]benzamide 3 (150 mg, 0.337 mmol) in ethanol (15 ml) was treated with Raney Nickel (˜150 mg, slurry in water) and the reaction mixture was stirred under 1 atm. H2 at 60° C. for 18 hours. The catalyst was filtered off (celite) and the filtrate was concentrated. Elution through a flash column (silica gel 60, 230-400 mesh, EtOAc) gave the title compound as a yellow oil which solidified to a glass (84 mg, 63%).
