{2-[4-(tert-Butyldimethylsilanyloxy)-phenyl]-ethyl}-pteridin-4-yl-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (680 mg, 1.4 mmol) was dissolved in 5 mL CH2Cl2 and treated with tetrabutylammonium fluoride 3H2O in 10 mL THF. After stirring for 18 h, the solution was washed with H2O, dried (Na2SO4), suction filtered, and concentrated in vacuo to give [2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-ethyl]-pteridin-4-yl-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester as a tan solid, mp 132-134° C. (dec.); ESIMS m/z ([M+H]+) 368.
