Reaction Steps

The crude product (102) was combined with aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution (20 mL, 0.75 N) and stirred for 3 days. The compound was then extracted using ethyl acetate in three 20 mL portions. The organic phase was then evaporated and separated in a column to get a clear oil. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): δ 1.42 (s, 6H), 2.19 (t, 2H), 2.58 (s, 2H), 4.00 (s, 2H), 4.16 (s, 2H), 4.28 (t, 2H).
