Reaction Steps

The crude product (110) was combined with aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution (20 mL, 0.75 N) and stirred for 3 days. The compound was then extracted using ethyl acetate in three 20 mL portions. The organic phase was then evaporated and separated in a column to get a clear oil. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): δ 1.21 (m, 8H), 1.40 (s, 6H), 1.53 (s, 3H), 2.00 (m, 1H), 2.19 (s, 1H), 2.21 (s, 1H), 3.98 (s, 2H), 4.01 (s, 2H).
