Procedure
2-{[[4-(3-Chloropropylthio)-3-methyl-2-pyridinyl]methyl]thio}-1 H-benzimidazole (1 mmol) is stirred at 60° C. for 20 h with 2-mercapto-1 H-benzimidazole (1.05 mmol) and 1N sodium hydroxide solution (3 ml) in 10 ml of ethanol and subsequently diluted with a further 10 ml of water. The mixture is allowed to cool, and the precipitated solid is filtered off, washed with ethanol/water 1/1 and dried in vacuo at 50° C. The title compound is obtained as a gray powder; m.p. 85°-87° C.; yield: 83% of theory.
