The phenol from Step 3 (23 g) was hydrogenated in methanol (700 ml) under 50 psi H2 pressure in the presence of 5% palladium on charcoal (2 g) for 1 hour. The catalyst was removed by filtration over celite and the solvent was removed to provide the title compound, m.p. 160°-162°.
