Reaction Steps
To 0.67 g of cis methyl N-t-butoxycarbonyl-4-(carboxymethyl)-pyrrolidine-2-carboxylate in 1 ml THF is added at 0° 3.5 ml of borane (1M) in THF. After stirring 0.5 hour, 1 ml of water is added, the solvent is evaporated and the residue is flash chromatographed with ethyl acetate/hexane (75:25) to afford cis methyl N-t-butoxycarbonyl-4-(2-hydroxyethyl)-pyrrolidine-2-carboxylate.
