Reaction Steps
To a solution of title product of Example 39 (0.5 g, 1.5 mmol) in methanol (4 ml), cooled to 0° C., was added 30% H2O2 (0.5 ml, 4.8 mmol), followed by 2N NaOH (1.6 ml, 3.2 mmol). After 30 minutes at 0° C. the solution was acidified with 2N HCl, diluted with water (15 ml) and extracted with ethyl acetate (2×15 ml). The combined extracts were washed with brine (15 ml), dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo, leaving present title product as an oil (420 mg, 80%).
