Reaction Steps
A mixture of intermediate (37) (0.0285 mol) and ammonium acetate (0.057 mol) in DMSO (180 ml) was stirred at 120 ° C. for 2 hours. The mixture was poured out into ice water. The precipitate was filtered, washed with water (several times) then with CH3CN/diethyl ether and dried at 60° C. under vacuum, yielding 10.3 g (74%) of 4-(3-chlorophenyl)-6-(4-iodobenzoyl)-2(1H)-quinazolinone (intermediate 38).
