[4-(2-tert-Butoxycarbonylaminoethylamino)-5-(4-fluorophenylcarbamoyl)pyrimidin-2-ylsulfanyl]acetic acid ethyl ester (113 mg, 0.23 mmol) was dissolved in a trifluoroacetic acid/dichloromethane solution (50%, 4 mL) and the resulting solution was stirred under N2 for 2 h. The solvent was removed by rotary evaporation, and trituration with diethyl ether was attempted. The resulting gummy solid was dissolved in water and lyophilized to yield the titled product (102 mg, 88% as trifluoroacetic acid salt) as a hygroscopic and flocculent white solid. 1H NMR: (d6-DMSO) δ 10.28 (s, 1H), 8.64 (m, 1H), 8.60 (s, 1H), 7.65 (in, 2H), 7.18 (t, 2H), 4.09 (q, 2H), 3.98 (s, 2H), 3.62 (m, 2H), 2.98 (m, 2H), 1.17 (t, 3H).
