A mixture of 1-methyl-N3 -phenylmethylene-N5 -[3-[3-[(dimethylamino)methyl]phenoxy]propyl]-1H-1,2,4-triazole-3,5-diamine (2.0 g) and sodium borohydride (0.95 g) in methanol was stirred at 25° for 12 hr. The mixture was poured onto water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic extract was washed with brine and distilled to give the title compound as a pale yellow oil (1.4 g) b.p. 180° (0.04 mm). TLC silica; methanol:ammonia (80:1) Rf 0.7.
