Procedure
0.34 g of benzotriazole, 0.24 g of sodium hydroxide and 25 g of a phthalated gelatin were dissolved in 700 ml of water and stirred at 60° C. A solution of 3.4 g of benzotriazole and 1.2 g of sodium hydroxide in 150 ml of water and a solution of 5 g of silver nitrate in 150 ml of water were then added simultaneously to the resultant mixture near the stirrer over 4 minutes. After stirring for 5 minutes, a solution of 3.4 g of benzotriazole and 0.2 g of sodium hydroxide in 150 ml of water and a solution of 5 g of silver nitrate in 150 ml of water were added simultaneously to the mixture near the stirrer over 6 minutes. The pH of the emulsion thus obtained was controlled for precipitation to remove excess salts. The pH was adjusted to 6.0 to prepare a silver benzotriazole emulsion with a yield of 470 g.
