Reaction Steps
In tetrahydrofuran - methanol (10/1, 55 mL) was dissolved 4-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-1-[(5-chloro-1-phenylsulfonylindol-2-yl)sulfonyl]-3-[(methoxycarbonyl)methyl]piperazine (2.5 g), followed by the addition of lithium borohydride (135 mg). The resulting mixture was stirred for 48 hours. The solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure. Water and chloroform were then added to the reaction mixture and the mixture was separated into layers. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and distilled under reduced pressure to remove the solvent. The residue was subjected to chromatography on a silica gel column (ethyl acetate:hexane=2:3), whereby the title compound (1.84 g) was obtained as a colorless oil.
