By following the above procedure and using cyclobutylcarbonyl chloride, (3R,4R)-4-phenyl-3-triethylsilyloxy-azetidin-2-one was converted to the title product: 1H NMR (CDCl3) δ 0.18-0.61 (m, 15H), 1.66-2.22 (m, 6H), 3.61 (m, 1H), 4.89 (d, 1H, J=5.7 Hz), 4.94 (d, 1H, J=5.7 Hz), 7.03-7.18 (m, 5H).
