Reaction Steps

A solution of intermediate (2-a) (0.59 mol) in hydrochloric acid (20%) (1500 ml) was stirred and refluxed for 2 hours. The mixture was cooled, alkalized with NaOH 50% and extracted twice with DCM. The combined organic layers were washed with water, dried, filtered, and the solvent was evaporated. The product was used in the next reaction step without further purification, yielding 110 g (100%) of 6-chloro-2,3-di-methoxybenzenamine (interm. 2-b)
