0.594 g of N,N'-bis-(4-tert.-butoxycarbonylaminomethyl-benzyl)-D-tartaramide was dissolved in 0.8 ml of trifluoroacetic acid at 0° C. and subsequently stirred at room temperature for 5 hours; the mixture was subsequently evaporated and the residue was treated with methylene chloride/ether (1:1). The precipitate which formed was filtered off. There was obtained N,N'-bis-(4-aminomethyl-benzyl)-D-tartaramide di(trifluoroacetate), MS: m/z 387.4 ([M+H]+).
