To a solution of 3 g of the product of Step 2 in 30 ml of pyridine is added 8.7 g of I2. The mixture is stirred for 24 h and then diluted with 200 ml of ether, washed with 100 ml of 5N HCl and 50 ml of 5N Na2 S2O3. The ether layer is dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated to give the title compound.
