Reaction of 3-hydroxy-5-(3-amino-2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-2-butyrylcyclohex-2-en-1-one with ethoxyamine hydrochloride following essentially the same procedure as described in Example 1 part (iv) gave 2-[1-(ethoxyimino)butyl]-3-hydroxy-5-(3-amino-2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)cyclohex-2-en-1-one (8) as a pale orange oil. The compound was characterized by its proton magnetic resonance spectrum which is given in Table 5, Example 37.
