A solution of 5 g of 4-[3-(trans-4-pentylcyclohexyl)-1-propyloxy]benzaldehyde in 100 ml of acetone was treated dropwise with 10 ml of Jones' reagent. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour and then poured into 100 ml of water. The precipitate which thereby resulted was filtered off, washed portionwise with water and dried in a vacuum. The crude product was recrystallized from ethanol and gave 2.2 g of pure 4-[3-(trans-4-pentylcyclohexyl)-1-propyloxy]benzoic acid with m.p. (C-N) 204° C. and cl.p. (N-I) 215° C.
