Procedure
13.0 g of ethyl 5-(2-chlorophenyl)-2,3-dihydro-2-oxo-1H-1-benzazepine-7-carbamate are heated to boiling under reflux for 13 hours together with 39 g of potassium methylate in a mixture of in each case 215 ml of methanol, ethanol and water. After evaporation of the organic solvents, the residue is extracted with chloroform. The residue from the chloroform extract is crystallized from ethyl acetate. There is obtained 7-amino-5-(2-chlorophenyl)-1,3-dihydro-2H-1-benzazepin-2-one of melting point 192°.
