Procedure
8 ml of saturated sodium hydroxide solution were added to a solution of 20 g (0.088 mol) of N-(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)-N-ethyl-acetoxyacetamide in 100 ml of methanol. The mixture was stirred at 20° C. for 15 hours and concentrated and the concentrate was neutralized with acetic acid and extracted with methylene chloride. The organic phase was dried and filtered. After the solvent had been distilled off, N-(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)-N-ethylhydroxyacetic acid amide was obtained as a yellow oil. ##STR14##
