(+) [(6,7-Dichloro-2-cyclopentyl-2,3-dihydro-2-methyl-1-oxo-1H-inden-yl)oxy]butanoic acid (Example 8, Step B) (0.77 g, 0.002 mole) is suspended in dry tetrahydrofuran (20 ml) and cooled to 0° C. A solution of 1,1'-carbonyldiimidazole (0.32 g, 0.002 mole) in teterahydrofuran (5 ml) is added. The solution of 1-{(+)-4-[(6,7-dichloro-2-cyclopentyl-2,3-dihydro-2-methyl-1-oxo-1H-inden-5-yl)oxy]butanoyl}imidazole that is formed is used in the next step without isolation.
