A mixture of 1.4 g of 2,4-dichloroquinazoline and 3.5 g of 2-(2-thienyl)ethylamine was stirred under nitrogen at 160°-165° C. for one hour, then cooled. To the mixture 200 ml of a 50/50 mixture of NH4OH/water was added. The product was extracted into CH2Cl2, and this solution was concentrated to dryness. The residue was purified by HPLC (silica gel, 80% pentane/20% EtOAc) to provide 1.3 g of the title product Yield: 50.0% M.P. oil.
