7,7-Dimethyl-1,2,3,4,7,8-hexahydro-quinolin- (5(6H)-one was reacted with 1-bromo-3-methylbutane according to the procedures of Part (b) of Example 1 to give 7,7-dimethyl-1,2,3,4,7, 8-hexahydro-1-(3-methylbutyl)-quinolin-5(6H)one (18) as a pale yellow oil.
