1-Benzyl-4-[N-ethyl-N-(3-nitro-2-pyridinyl)amino]methylpiperidine (EXAMPLE 176, 9.8 g, 27.6 mmol) and 10% palladium on carbon (3 g) in ethanol (250 ml) are hydrogenated at 40 p.s.i. hydrogen for one hr. Filtration and evaporation of the solvent gives the title compound, NMR (300 MHz, CD3OD) 7.60, 7.28, 7.05, 6.86, 3.46, 3.01, 2.84, 1.90, 1.70, 1.40, 1.19 and 1.0δ.
