Reaction Steps

As described in Example 9, 0.471 g (1.5 mmol) of 5-(4-aminobenzoyl)-6,11-dihydro-5H-dibenz[b,e]azepine is reacted with 0.303 g (1.8 mmol) of 2,4-dimethylbenzoyl chloride in 10 ml of dichloromethane. The product is recrystallized from hexane-dichloromethane to give 0.38 g of crystals, m.p. 197-199° C.
