Reaction Steps

To a suspension of LAH (3.2 g, 0.084 mmol) in THF (400 ml) under N2 was added dropwise a solution of 1-3 (21 g, 0.063 mol) in THF (100 ml). After stirring overnight at room temperature, saturated Na2SO4 was added to the reaction until a white suspension was observed. The mixture was filtered and the filtrate was combined with H2O and CHCl3, separated, and extracted further with CHCl3 (2×). The combined organic extracts were dried, filtered and concentrated to dryness. The residue was triturated with hexane to yield 1-4.
