To a solution of anthranilic acid in toluene, n-octyl p-toluenesulfonate prepared according to the conventional method was added and the mixture was refluxed at 120° C. After 6 hours, an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide was added and the toluene layer was concentrated. N-n-octylanthranilic acid was obtained from the remaining reactant after the purification by column chromatography with the yield of 43.1%.
