Procedure
8.7 g of thiourea was dissolved in 150 ml of ethanol and thereto was added 4-chloro-6-t-butyl-1,3,3a,7-tetraazaindene. The resulting mixture was refluxed for 1.5 hours over a water bath. At the conclusion of the refluxing the product precipitated as crystals. Upon distilling off the ethanol, needle crystals were obtained. Repeated recrystallization from 1.8 l of ethanol gave 7.4 g of intended compound having a melting point of 285° to 286° C.
