Procedure

Using the method of Example 61, 5,7-bis(methylthio)-3-phenylimidazo[1,5-c]pyrimidine (from Example 30) was reacted with sodium methoxide to provide 5-methoxy-7-methylthio-3-phenylimidazo[1,5-c]pyrimidine as a pale yellow solid after recrystallization from cyclohexane, m.p. 134°-135° C. Analysis: Calculated for C14H13N3OS: %C, 62.0; %H, 4.8; %N, 15.5; Found; %C, 62.0; %H, 4.7; %N, 15.7.
