Procedure
3.5 g. Phenyl glycidyl ether and 8.7 g. 2-amino-6-(2-aminoethylamino)-purine are dissolved in 50 ml. methanol and left to stand for 24 hours at ambient temperature. The methanol is then removed in a vacuum and the residue is dissolved in methylene chloride and purified on a silica gel column using, as elution agent, methylene chloride-methanol (7:3 v/v). The residue obtained by evaporation of the pure fractions is triturated with ethanol and then recrystallized from this solvent. There are obtained 2.0 g. (25% of theory) of the desired product in the form of colorless crystals; m.p. 169°-171° C.
