Procedure

A mixture composed of 0.505 g (2.5 mmol) of the compound obtained in Step 4 and 0.286 g (2.75 mmol) of formamidine acetate in 20 ml of EtOH is stirred at 20° C. for 16 hours. After evaporating off the solvent, the residue is taken up in 10 ml of CH2Cl2 ; the mixture is treated with 5 ml of 2N NaOH and extracted with CH2Cl2 (3×20 ml). The combined organic phases are dried and concentrated; the residual oil is dissolved in 10 ml of EtOH and the mixture is treated with a solution of 0.29 g (2.5 mmol) of fumaric acid in 5 ml of EtOH. The title compound is isolated after recrystallisation.
