Procedure
6-Bromo-8-ethoxycarbonyl-3'-isopropoxyflavone were refluxed under heat for 0.5 to 1 hour in acetic acid which contained 3% of sulfuric acid. The mixture was charged into ice water, followed by extraction with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with water and 4% aqueous solution of sodium hydrogencarbonate, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and then concentrated under reduced pressure. The thus-obtained crude crystals were recrystallized from ethanol, whereby the title compound was obtained (yield: 80%).
