Trifluoroacetamide enol ether 31 is hydrolyzed at 60° C. with finely ground K2CO2 (3 eq) in MeOH containing trace water. Workup by partitioning the mixture with EtOAc/H2O, followed by silica gel chromatography provides enol ether aniline 32.
