Procedure
4.4 g (0.031M) of benzoyl chloride in 10 ml of dimethoxyethane is dripped into a suspension of 2.5 g (0.033M) of ammonium thiocyanate in 50 ml of 1,2-dimethoxyethane. The mixture is stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. 4.5 g (0.028M) of 2-amino-4,7-dimethylisoindoline in 30 ml of dimethoxyethane are dripped in. The mixture is stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. The precipitated ammonium chloride is suctioned off. Evaporation yields 5.3 g of 1-benzoyl-3-(4,7-dimethylisoindolin-2-yl)-thiourea (Mp. 163°-164° C.) from the filtrate, which is converted by saponification with 50 ml of 10% sodium hydroxide into the (4,7-dimethylisoindolin-2-yl)-thiourea.
