Procedure
0.42 g of 18 dissolved in a small amount of ethyl alcohol was added drop-by-drop to a mixture of 0.06 g of sodium borohydride, 3.6 ml of ethyl alcohol and 0.9 ml of water, at 10° C. The resulting solution was stirred and allowed to warm to room temperature overnight. The resulting mixture was quenched with water, and the resulting mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was dried (Na2SO4), filtered and the solvent was evaporated to give 19, as an oily solid.
