Procedure

Using the method of Example 28 and starting with 5,7-bis(methylthio)triazolo[1,5-c]pyrimidine-2-thiol (from Example 23) and dimethyl sulfate, a solid was obtained which was recrystallized from an ethyl acetate-hexane mixture to provide 2,5,7-tris(methylthio)triazolo[1,5-c]pyrimidine, m.p. 165°-167° C. Analysis: Calculated for C8H10N4S3 : %C, 37.2; %H, 3.9; %N, 21.7; Found: %C, 37.5; %H, 3.9; %N, 22.0.
