Procedure
A separable flask was charged with 140 g of the thus-obtained 2-(4-t-butylphenoxy)-1,4-dimethoxybenzene, 1000 g of aluminum trichloride and 500 cc of benzene. The mixture was stirred at 100° C. for 2 hours and was thrown into ice-hydrochloric acid. The formed precipitate was recovered by filtration, washed with water and dried to obtain about 100 g of 2-(4-t-butylphenoxy)hydroquinone.
