5.3 g (0.016 mol) of methyl 2-(4-acetylphenoxymethyl)phenylglyoxylate O-methyloxime and 3.0 g (0.019 mol) of benzyloxyamine hydrochloride in 60 ml of methanol are stirred at room temperature for 24 hours. The mixture is then hydrolyzed with water and extracted with methyl tert-butyl ether. The organic phase is washed with water, dried and concentrated. 5.9 g (83%) of the title compound are obtained in the form of colorless crystals (melting point 104°-106° C., compound no. 590).
