Procedure

6-Bromo-7-phosphonomethyl-imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine-2-carboxylic acid 18 (15 mg) was introduced in a 250 mL Parr bottle with 0.5N NaOH (1 mL), water (15 mL) and Pd on Carbon (5%, 20 mg). The bottle was evacuated, filled with hydrogen and shaken for one hour at room temperature. The product was purified by passing through a strongly basic ion-exchange column. The product 19 was eluted with 1N HCl.
