Procedure

8 g of the ethyl 3-(2-cyanophenoxy)phenylacetate obtained are dissolved in 200 ml of methanol and hydrogenated in the presence of 3.5 g of a Pd-C 5% catalyst. After the reaction has ended, the catalyst is filtered off. After customary working up, ethyl 3-(2-aminomethylphenoxy)-phenylacetate is obtained as an oil.
