Reaction Steps
A mixture of the compound obtained in Example 19 (0.24 g, 0.33 mmol) and 5N sodium hydroxide (0.07 ml) in ethanol (8 ml) was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. After the solvent was distilled of f under reduced pressure, the residue obtained was dissolved in chloroform (30 ml) and the solution was washed with aqueous sodium bicarbonate (saturated, 20 ml) and brine (20 ml). After the organic layer was dried (Na2SO4), the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure and the residue obtained was recrystallized from chloroform-ether to yield pale yellow powders (0.17 g, 75%).
