Procedure
Thionyl chloride (0.046 ml) was added to a solution of 1-{[1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6-(hydroxymethyl)-3-methyl-1-(2-methylpropyl)-2,4-dioxothieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-5-yl]carbonyl }pyrrolidine (0.1 15 g) in anhydrous dichloromethane (5 ml) under nitrogen. After 1 hour, the mixture was evaporated. The residue was redissolved in ethyl acetate (25 ml), washed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, filtered and evaporated to give the subtitle compound (0.11 g) as an oil.
