Reaction Steps
A solution of 5-bromo-3-methyl-1-(2-methylpropyl)-6-[1-hydroxy-1-(pyridin-3-yl)methyl]thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione (0.50 g, Example 39 step b)), 4-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (0.21 g), powdered 4A sieves (0.58 g) and tetra-n-propylammoniumperruthenate (0.02 g) in dry dichloromethane (40 ml) was stirred for 1 hour at room temperature. The suspension was filtered through celite and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by column chromatography over silica eluting with dichloromethane to give the subtitle compound as a cream solid (0.47 g).
