Reaction Steps

To a solution of 4.35 g (10 mmol) of 1-benzyl-3-(R)-(4-(4-fluorophenyl)piperidinylmethyl)-4-(R)-(3-thienyl)pyrrolidine in 20 mL of THF at 0° C. was added 3.7 mL (26 mmol) of methylchloroformate and the reaction mixture was warmed to rt and stirred for 2 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated and the residue was purified by chromatography (silica, acetone: hexanes, 1:3) to give 3.5 g of the title compound.
