To a stirred solution of (Z)-1,3-dihydro-4-iodo-3-[(3-methoxy-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)methylene]-2H-indol-2-one (50 mg, 0.14 mmol) (Starting Material 2) in dimethoxyethane (5 mL) was added 4-hydroxy-1-butenyl-boronic acid (48 mg, 0.418 mmol) (from Example 68 above), tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0) (39 mg, 0.034 mmol) (Aldrich) and 2M Na2CO3 solution in H2O (0.34 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at 85° C. overnight in a pressure tube. The solvent was removed in vacuo, and the residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (Hex:EtOAc=5:1) to provide 1,3-dihydro-4-(4-hydroxy-but-1-enyl)-3-[(3-methoxy-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)methylene]-indol-2-one as a yellow solid. (Yield 21 mg, 50%).
