45 mL of a 20% aqueous solution of benzotriazole with a pH of about 6.5 were added with stirring to the aqueous dispersion of silver salicylate. A fine dispersion of silver benzotriazolate was obtained. The size of the silver benzotriazolate particles was ascertained by optical microscopy to be 1 to 2 μm.
